San Diego Tuna Fishing Need Advice

Were headed down to San Diego to go tuna fishing early next week. While I've been before, I got skunked last time while my son caught the largest on the boat. The california boards are pretty slow...so I thought I'd ask if anyone had some tackle tips they might share for tuna fishing. I need to know what tackle I should take and how to rig it up for best results. Thanks for any information you are willing to provide.
