Combos are ok but I am looking for a fishing pole and reel seperate. I want to stay at the most 100 bucks for the rod and probably max 40 bucks for a reel. I am fishing for catfish. I had to borrow my brothers pole because one broke the pole even though I was using the right test line. It was 12 pound test line. It should have snapped the line before the pole as that was the max it could have on it. I already picked an open face reel an abu garcia. forget the exact model but I already have it picked. I just need a nice flexable rod that is not going to crack I had one crack and it made me almost throw up. I did get the SOB that broke my pole it had one of my double hooks and the hook that was on my pole when it got snapped. I borrowed one of my younger brothers fishing poles. Now I am in the market for something that can take a beating. I am getting mine replaced but I want something for the big fish. Make some suggestions. The catfish was 2 and half feet long. So i need something that can handle that. I need flexible and strong.
