Guys, I've fished this area for years, and know the fishery pretty well. You don't need really heavy mono for your mainline, 40 is plenty if you are fishing from a boat. I use 30 from my boat, and 50 from shore. You really need to use 80 pound test braided DACRON for your leader though. It is soft and supple, and the fish won't feel it with their whiskers. It is also more abraision resistant than the mono and spiderwire, and the spiderwire/Powerpro type braids will cut the bejeezus out of thse fish. They do not have scales to protect them, and tend to roll up in the line which will cut them deeply. Since the reproduction is limited in the Snake, and poaching is still a problem, this fishery doesn't need the added issue of cut up fish. Please use fish friendly gear.

I know I'm new on this board, but I've known Kent for a few years. He'll vouch for me. I'm not trying to start problems here, I just really love these fish, and want the best for them.
