Is day fishing effective?

So.....lots of responses and all very helpful. Sounds like this is pretty basic stuff for you all, but what I learned is; 1.) Target a species, 2.) know your bodies of water and 3.) keep the weather/season mind.

Not all fish are alike, so knowing the feeding habits of the species I'm targeting is important. Knowing the body of water is also important, if I'm fishing in the middle of the day I have to know where the deep water close to shore is to have much luck. Also, knowing how the weather affects and/or changes the conditions so that I can adjust to make up for it.

Again, probably basic knowledge for you guys, but not something I had not given an awfull lot of thought to before. Sure appreciate all the feedback. Thanks everyone.
