the fuel i run is 25:1 ratio, the motor itself says to mix 9 oz of oil PER GALLON, its old i know but thats a TON of oil...some motor heads i talked to suggested running a 25:1 and see.
how bad is it to experiment with a few different mixes if the engine doesnt get enough oil for a few minutes? its all air cooled so the 40:1 i use in my gas trimmer has the same oil as my outboard because i already had the oil. could i try this or do you all suggest i run a smaller step first like kick to a 30:1 or a 35:1?
the fuel tank is on the motor and has brass tubing that "hard pipes" it to the carb. i did disassemble all that and push a wire through it just to see if it was clogged, nothing there.
i took the bulb assy. apart and checked the needle valve(??) that screws into the intake no plugged ports anywhere i could see, i found 3 the one into the motor and the ones on either side of the needle, the float seems to float okay too...i did tear the top off and replace the plug wire last fall, and i tested that too.....it gives a good spark even through a finger...got singed on that one, mental note get new screwdriver with insulated grips, i wonder if it could be as simple as my gas to oil ratio being a bit thick....hhmmm i wonder how much gas you need to add to 3 gallons of 25:1 to make it a 35:1 since I am out of gas cans......time to get my charts out... thanks for the i deas fellas!!
