It is ironic that just last night I completely disassembled a spinning reel that had been dunked a few to many times. It was nowhere near as smooth as when I first bought it and was actually a little noisy.
Anyway, after completely disassembling the guts, cleaning with de-greaser, and re-lubricating with reel grease and oil; I am happy to say it feels almost as good as new. I had no idea it had so many small parts and it is a small miracle I got it all back to together.
I know it is wise to regularly oil some of the exposed parts, but how often should the gears inside get a new application of grease? Yearly?
