River Fishing in My New Fish Cat 10 IR Pontoon Boat
#4
Hey Pat, I know you had a brief fling with a Cougar and I know how you feel about the tube as I felt strongly the same way but if you ever move to an area with a lot of river fishing opportunities you might have to revist the pontoon. I love my kayak but the Fish Cat pontoon gave me the same hands free fishing that I get while tubing. Now I know some guys use drag chains while taking various craft down river but with our experience with fins from years of tubing this would be totally unnecessary. I was really pleased with what I could do with fins in the moving water situation. I have a stripping apron which keeps me inside the confines of the pontoons when I jump off the seat to stand and fish an area thoroughly. (see pic of my friend with his Orvis/WaterSkeeter pontoon) Standing on the river bed in fins is a little clunky and perhaps might be more comfortable in those shortie Outcast type fins that you strap to your boot. However I like a full sized fin for what it can do to contol and propel the craft. I knew the pontoon boats real niche was in moving water but I didn't realize it would be as effcient as it is. Anybody who does not wear fins on their pontoon is "missing the boat" (pun intended)
