[cool][#0000ff]We had some huge fires in the Salt River watershed the year before we moved from Arizona. When the ash and unprotected mud washed into the lakes the next spring it really messed up the water chemistry. Lots of fish dieoffs and later in the year big poisonous algae blooms killed even more of the fish and food sources in the lakes. Small dead clams were floating on the surface and the whole lake would be stinking. And you could see dead crawdads littering the bottom. Of course the surviving fish moved to places where fresh water was coming in, but that meant no fishing in the usual spots and less food for them.[/#0000ff]
