20 lbs? wow that is a bit of overkill if you ask me. No wonder he wasn't catching anything.

I might run up to 15 lbs during the heavy salmon run, mostly because I hate re-tying all the time. In my experience, it seems like salmon would hit a fly tied to pier rope if it was in their way and pissed them off enough. Not line shy at all. Steelhead on the other hand are completely different. I run 12 lbs most of the time but if they are stuborn and not hitting I'll go down to 10 lbs. I've seen it make a difference.
