Help on huntington beach pier
#3
I have fished that Pier many times.

Next to the restaurant entrance is a little bait shop. Mussel cups work good for the Butter lip perch and the Opaleyes.

If you fish off of the North West area of the Pier, there is a small reef there. You will find other species around that reef. I have caught California Scorpionfish, Sheepshead and small rock fish there.

If you cast past the reef, you can find some of the other Shark species. Bigger Leopard Sharks, Horn Sharks, Spiny Dogfish and Swell Sharks.

You may want to take a crab net with you for fun. Place 1/2 of a frozen Mackerel in it and leave it for about 20 minutes. There are Red Crabs, Rock Crabs, Dungeones Crabs, Spider Crabs, Fidler Crabs, Kelp Crabs and Ghost Crabs.

Are you fishing it more in the day or towards night time??

Many of these species are evenening critters.

Your daytime species will limit you to Barred Surfperch, Pompano, Butterlip Perch and Mackerel..........Save the Mackerel for the Crab trap.[cool]

Be sure to try the Ruby's Restaurant. They have some mean burgers and some killer hot chocolate for the late night fishing.[Smile]
