My daughter, her friend & I were fishing the Jordan right where it runs out of UL, just below those roll gates west of the pumphouse. The girls were having a brew when Barney Fife & his buddy (county mounties) came across the bridge & ticketed them both. I hadn't had even a sip & asked Barney where it said that they couldn't have a beer there. I told him to just look around, there had to be 100 or more beer bottles and cans right around where we were fishing. He told us to go over to the park entrance and we would see a sign stating that alcoholic beverages were prohibited. As far as the rest of the trash around us, he said they would all have gotten ticketed if they had been caught.
We went to look for the sign & sure enough, there it was, all but hidden behind a guard rail and so faded that it was almost illegible but there nonetheless.
The girls took pictures of the sign & all the other beer bottles & cans laying around and took them to court with them. Still cost each one $150.00.
I almost always take a trash bag with me when I bank fish and clean up after the slobs. I'll be damned if I'll pick up one thing that isn't mine from that area again.
