...first and foremost I was not saying saber was wrong.. I was saying that there are other options out there.. and depending on the person one of those options may be more comfortable...
my first finisher was like the thompson.. it was cumbersom to work with and since it did not rotate it was even harder to finish the fly properly..
... the second one I got .. and I think it was an umpqua product at sport chalet is like the first picture...much much easier to use since it rotates.. especially after scruffy showed me how to make the triangle you showed in your last picture...
..the main reason I bought the new bodkin and the half hitch tools is to open up a different option for me.. kind of "out of the box" thing.. there are days my fingers get stiff and when that happens I would like to know about and be comfortable with different options that would make it easier on me yet accomplish the same thing..
..and again.. my pointof view on this is that as with almost everything .. there is almost always an option that can be used.. and that option may be more comfortable for someone to use than the "standard" or "accepted" way of doing it..... for example.. in a perfect world.. we all would with practice.. cast overhand.. but reality is .. dependent on the situation.. anglers comfort level.. surroundings etc. we modify our cast to make it more comfortable for outselves yet still accomplish the same thing. to get that fly out to the fish in hopes it will decide its a good time to eat..
if there was only one way to do things.. then we would not have so many types of cast.. overhand.. bow and arrow.. statue of liberty.. spey.. switch..... or types of rods.. or types and sizes of reels... and the list goes on...![[Image: fish-on.gif]](http://www.bigfishtackle.com/images/gforum/fish-on.gif)
