powell/southern utah help

I finally get some off and haven't been fishing in about 3 months so i am in some serious need to fish. I have the next week from wed on off until the next tues. Anyway here is my question. we are probably going to be down in the st George mesquite area and we are toying with the idea of heading to Powell for a couple of days at least. if not powell I am wondering if there are some other southern utah lakes that might be producing well (preuss might even be an option if the fishing is good right now). we would be in the page whawheep area if we go to powell and I was wondering if anyone knows of some good places i could fish from shore with any success? I would love to get into stripers if I could, but I have never fished for them without a boat. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have only fished powell once and it was a blast the last time i went. If anyone is heading down there and wouldn't mind an extra body in the boat I would gladly pitch in for gas etc if that is an option as well. Like I said any advice would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance. I just have this crazy fishing itch I need to satisfy or I am going to go nuts,
