Old Web Site vs. New Web Site
#88
[cool][#0000ff]Nobody likes "change for the sake of change". The new forum is not just for flash. The whole BFT website has grown exponentially over the past few years until it is an empire. Unfortunately, there is only so much that can be done with patchwork adding of server upgrades and minor tweaks. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]At some point you either have to jack up the old system and put a new one under it...or just shut down...like DWR did. They were not funded for it and it got too big for their system...and was getting away from them in terms of where they wanted to go with it.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]BFT has always been owned and operated by Predatorial Advertising. In recent months, they have begun a program of expansion, acquiring other websites and upgrading capacities. We are now under the name of First Light Net. We are big time. And, with all that we want to accomplish, and with all that we want to be able to offer both members and advertisers, it required some major changes. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]So, rather than buy a BIG BOX of bandaids, the decision was made to do it right...theoretically. Unfortunately, there are some things that you cannot anticipate. For example, the program WAS thoroughly tested before the new one was rolled out. But, many of the fixes and upgrades did not "migrate" to the new site. Bummer.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]It is taking more time and Tylenol to repair the problems than the original programming. It is not a simple fix on many of these things. And, just like trying to build a house, repair a car or upgrade computers...just when you get one thing fixed, something else pops up.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]It is trying on all of us. We love our BFT and most of us tend to resist change. We are more comfortable staying with what we know, rather than making an effort to learn something new. Heck, there are still people who have old VCRs that are still flashing on 12:00, 12:00, 12:00.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I am as frustrated as anybody, but I try to keep a positive outlook. We have to find workarounds and ignore some of the inconveniences for now, but things SHOULD get better.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If not, I will jump off my tackle box along with the rest of you.[/#0000ff]
