I was up there last Saturday(4/19) and there was some open water in the channel leading to the dam. Other than that there was two and a half feet of ice just about everywhere. The ice was starting to get mushy though. I broke through to the slush layer twice when I was coming off. There were two snowmachines out near the island and they didn't seem to be having too much trouble.
I'm thinking ice off will be a little different on Scofield this year. Most years the water level goes up which creates a nice little ribbon of water around the edges. This year they have dropped the water level between 2 and 3 feet so in alot of places you will have to walk/wade across some ice to get ot the edge/water. I usually use hip waders to get on the ice at the end of the season. This year there is a ribbon of ice on the bank not a ribbon of water.
Good luck if you go up, it's branding calves in Wyo this weekend for me. Maybe I can get away and get some fly fishing in. I'm excited to see what the new creel regs do for the green river drainage up there.
