Went out to fight the memorial day crowds yesterday evening....And was thankful (as usual around here) that most of the thousands of camper people decided that sitting around the Winnebago watching the big screen was more of a camping experience than chasing crazy bass. 10 million campers and only a handful of bank tanglers......their loss.
Started out pretty normal for this time of year catching about 20 baby bass (6 - 10 inches). And then finally got into their big brothers for about a half hour (16 - 18 inches). Had one of their daddies decide to spit out one of my Roadrunners about 3 feet from my tube as I was reaching for him...Oh well -- since he never came aboard I get to add an inch or two, right?
Once I paddled into the cover I decided to chase sun fish with bobbers and worms for awhile with my second pole. The Bluegill were more than willing to play along....No big fat 11 inchers today, but plenty of juicy 8's.

part of the trip was not running into any crappie. They have slowed down the last couple of weeks......may need to put my finder back on and head out deep and see if I can run into them again. 3 weeks ago they were as thick as the campers in the same spots I fished today.
