As a dedicated flyfisher I can tell just by looking at the picture that the new apron is definitely too high. I advised a flyfishing friend who wanted to upgrade from a round tube to get a Fish Cat. Haven't seen him on the water yet but he told me he removed the apron as it was unusable. His tube is the 2008 model.
I saw this fellow fishing from shore a couple of days ago. He had spent the morning in his new Fish Cat and was changing it up for the afternoon. I floated by him in my Fat Cat and he noticed the "lap apron". (I had forgotten my rigid "Rubbermaid" tray and pulled the old line tray out of one of the pockets.) My friend remarked that my line tray was a lot more efficient for stripping than his "new and improved" model.
God Bless,
