Sounds like fun. I have never caught a Walleye yet. I plan to target them this year at Starvation or Willard.
I can't wait till Willard fills up again so those cats have some spawning grounds. I imagine they will be "spawn starved" by then![sly]
Unfortunately, Walleyes are a "predator on the prowl" and you have to find them. But I think it would be worth it.
I have a drift sock that slows my inflatable down enough so Walleyes can sneak up and attack whatever I offer them. And at most lakes you get cats too.
Bottom bouncing with a three-way swivel is a total blast cause it seems effective for so many fish, such as Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass. In fact I don't why fishermen don't bottom bounce for bass as often as they should. Bass fishermen tend to be "the bass hang near structure". Yes thats true but there are critical times where trolling slow along the shore or near drop-offs and other structure can catch significant numbers of bass.
Most boats go to fast for Walleye, even though they catch some, still a slower troll to me would increase chances of landing fish.
I caught my first Wiper at Willard slow trolling. And it was right behind my boat. Although Wipers love a fast speed. Slow trolling is to me a powerful way to troll for any fish species.
