There has been several reports on this on the news and in the papers. F&G was to start electro shocking and gill netting i thought this week or first of next week and killing all walley they took to reduce the numbers. If I recall, they were looking to see if the walleye had already spawned in Ririe as they had already taken a fair number in one of the gill net surveys for other fish species.
I agree to a point that the walleye and trout and other species use different species and water temps, but it still isnt right for us to take it into our own hands to introduce species that we want. Yea walleye fishing in Ririe will be awesome if they take, but what will the overall impact be on the other species. This illegal introduction had to be done at least several years ago, as was the crappie introduciton in Twin Lakes that was done illegally.
Remember, some waters were designated for certain speices and others for other species. It can kill all of our fisheries if we mess with it in the wrong way.
