Debating which type of fish is most important misses the point. With bass, if the regulations are correct for the fishery, the population will be self sustaining and do not need supplemental stocking. With tiger muskies and wipers, the fish are STERILE and thus require stocking and thus hatcheries.
The only bass ponds that might need stocking right now are possibly some of the community ponds. Gunlock will need to be repopulated, but usually this is a one time deal and the bass "take it from there" themselves.
