Hi riverdog, all the advise is very similar, will be going into town again next few and visit the fly shop, so will have a much better idea of what 5/6 actually is holding one and feeling the action etc. I have actually and successfully cast before at a close friends in his back yard for quite a few hours we would see who could get closest to a coffee can or in.
That's been probably 6 or 8 years now so hopefully "like riding a bicycle". I have no idea what size rod that was in fact I think I remember it was bamboo, seemed long, and had a self rewinding reel on it that was pretty cool and I liked the way it felt, casting was easy soon on.
Would love to see the rod, could PM me with a pic and what your asking ? There is a complete trout package that Scientific Anglers has that I am interested to see a price on too, has "for trout" all the way down to the flies, just be kinda shopping around, see whats out there and we have a great mega-pawn shop right down the hill in Deerpark I want to see if they have anything too. Folks make some great deals if you work 'em enough.
Anyhow thanks for helping, this is great, BFS
