Regarding spearfishing at Fish Lake

Aren't there several fishing derbies on Flaming Gorge every year?? Are the fish that are brought in to be weighed dead or alive?? If they are dead shouldn't you write letters to stop this?? I know they are not spawning but once they are dead they stay dead...I think ?
