Regarding spearfishing at Fish Lake
#27
I have fished all over the West, and I never have thought Utahs regs were that complicated to start out with.
You won't find a state with simpler regs than Utah. Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, B.C., Oregon, Washington -- all have much, much more complicated regualtions than Utah.

Would there be another reason why the DWR wants to move in this direction?
It's not the "DWR" that wants to move in this direction. It's a few members of the DWR that happen to hold positions in high places. The Director. The Sportfish Coordinator, etc.

I can't figure out why the push for "simpler" regs. I don't know if we are the majority or the minority. I do know that there are NOT enough anglers that attend RAC meetings. So, whoever does show up -- they happen to be the majority whether they are or not.

The DWR's management seems to be pushovers when it comes to the general public anymore. They can't seem to stand up for the wildlife, and do what's right concerning protecting our wildlife. They seem to think that as long as we have lots, and lots of hatcheries producing millions of catchable rainbow trout, that everything is good.

They sit and claim simpler regulations, then they turn around and make funny rules for places like Strawberry and Panguitch where anglers are forced to be able to distinguish between a rainbow trout and a cutthroat trout! It's not about simplificiation. It's about apeasing those people that throw the biggest tantrum (as shown by Walt's response).

so -- start sending those emails to the RAC members. Put some pressure on them and this will get fixed.
