Regarding spearfishing at Fish Lake

Yes, I think you are right on about the GOB/ Hilljack crowd, that goes after their 4 hatchery trout as you describe. They do wield a fair bit of influence with the DWR. However, the DWR is trying to do this with bass and other more specialized fisheries as well. I don't know if the powerbait bunch cares that much about bass. I haven't heard ANY serious bassers ever complain for simplification of regs. (Doesn't mean it doesn't occur though) Spearfishing is a highly specialized activity that is currently allowed in only a few lakes. Putting (or removing) seasonal restrictions on a given body of water for a spawn is not going to make the spearfishers job to comply any harder since he has to look up if spearing is allowed anyway at a given locale. Regardless, I suppose this is what we are up against if we want to deal with some of these problems.
