The new gun is a 12 Gauge Remington 870 w/riffled barrel & scope. I loaded it up with the sabot slug rounds that claimed they would go 150 yards without dropping an inch.
At 50 yards the thing was dead on. Drilled 2 right through the cardboard deers heart. At 100 yards it was still right on target and I could easily blow through the lungs each time. And the final test.. 150 yards the sabot round held up to it's claims and didn't drop off at all, however they were just a tad left from where I was aiming but not by much.
So all in all it was a succesfull cardboard target deer hunt. The guns shoots great and the rounds live up to their claims. Only problem is they are a bit expensive. ($2.50 each time I pulled the trigger)
My little Mrs says I have no excuses this year not to fill the freezer.
.................ok that was the gun report, so make with the Ausable fishing report already. Did ya catch anything or not?
