It was a productive Saturday, and a great time to be on the water while the hunters are combing the hills. We got out on the reservoir around 8am and started graphing for some lake trout. The graph was pretty blank everywhere we looked, but we found a few arcs to chase near the mouth of Bear Creek.
We started trolling around 65-70ft and hooked into small rainbows left and right, similiar to Linedangler's report. A few pups made an appearance, but the highlight was a 8lb mack that my son reeled in. It took him about 15 minutes but he was grinning ear to ear (see pic) to land his biggest fish yet.

We were trolling around 1.8mph, using a gold Forage Minnow spoon and a rainbow Williams spoon, and a crayfish Shad Rap and silver Husky Jerk. All in all, we caught 1 smallie, 1 koke, 3 macks and a dozen or so small rainbows. The lake was glass, we didn't see another boat, and water temps were still hovering around 53F.
In the afternoon, we hiked down below the dam, to fish for an hour or so. It was blowing like Wyoming, so we opted for the spinning gear and left the fly rods sheathed. We caught 8 fish (bows, browns) casting broken back Rebels and Rapala X-raps in rainbow trout colors. We lost some, missed some, and had several others follow. Fish ranged from about 15-17 inches, and were in their fall colors. It was fun and once again we shared the river with only 2 other anglers. Sorry, no pics.
