Soft-Plastics,
Unfortunately down in Utah the whitefish do fight about as hard as most of our trout. Also we have plenty of 18 -21 whities that put some weight on and fight pretty well overall. You're right the trout up in your neck of the woods, the Salt, Snake and Greys River do fight harder generally than most of our trout. Bigger rivers and stronger currents result in stronger harder fighting trout. Genetically I think whities must not be able to respond as much to the conditions as trout do because your whities fight about the same as ours. I've had many a 18 inch cutt run a hundred yards on me on the rapid flowing Greys during early summer. I've never had that from any 18 inch trout in Utah. Probable not the same fight until trout are 20-21 inches here. Now you know why I always buy an annual Wyoming Fishing license. Just don't complain when you're overrun with Utahns.
