having seen a few go under and pulling out a few, I can tell you that every single after shot, even after some falls though looks like a spring,
water flushes on top the ice making the surounding area to change dramaticaly.
I watched my dad go though not 10 feet away from me, we were walking on 2 feet of ice. the ice he was standing on looked exactly the same as the ice I was standing on.
being an expert on ice conditions my self, and going though a couple time as well, I can tell you your statements are rude and crude. and an opology from you would not be out of the question.
The rule of ice is "There is no such thing as safe ice"
I live in michigan, I see every kind of ice condition emaginable.
Its the people who think they can read the ice are the larger of the percentages of who end up floating away in to lake erie, lake michigan, lake st clair, lake huron, like the hundred and fifty anglers did last week on lake erie. or like the dozens of snowcrafts and atvs not to mention numerous road vehicals that go thogh here every year.
One thing I know for sure, that is those who live there and fished there their whole lives I would trust above my own readings of the lakes involved. If there was a spring there they would know about it just as I would if I lived there and fished there for 30+ years.
On my lake every one comes to me to ask where it is safe and where it isnt.
one further comment by me, and this is my opinion, that is the ditching fellow members of this board or fellow anglers or any one group in genneral is just uncool and will get you put on the sour lemon list.
I have read some of your post, we dont mind some one playing devils avocate, done it many times my self, just watch the ditching....[
