I'm actually glad you brought that up. This particular river has been getting fantastic recruitment of rainbow trout for a number of years now. The majority of the rainbows are wild fish. Many of the brown trout are wild as well. Personally, I can't tell the difference between a wild trout and a trout that was stocked as a fingerling (and I doubt any of you can either!).
there is a real difference between anglers like Cliff, and anglers like myself. I guess it's one of those "5 stages of a hunter" things, but for fishing. Some people are all about numbers -- how many did you catch. Some people just want to cast and real in, cast and real in, cast and real in.... Others look only for trophies, while others are more interested in the method used. Some just go for the experience.
Sometimes I wonder what motivates certain anglers to fish. Is it the experience? Is it the chase for the trophy? Or do you fish so that you can post a report on the internet as soon as you get home?
Cliff thought those fish looked like planters. I thought that the river habitat had continued to improve. The weather was nice, the company was fun, and the fish were beautiful.
