You know you got me there...
a tandem rig! Yeah there you go.
And you use 6 pound test for wipers? And to avoid "double trouble" you find the one lure that gets the wipers going when you use a tandem rig? OK, well I think that you know what your doing.
But I think without walleye fishing experience I would not have the confidence to try a tandem rig, but for wipers I would have the confidence.
At Utah Lake when I was in the 8th grade back in '86 my friends and I would reel very fast to get the white bass going. I mean fast But to get the white bass to strike we would slow down the retrieve just right before we had to make another cast. You know what I mean? They would strike at the last minute. Like their cousins the stripped bass there are times when stripers will hit a lure right at your boat—at the last minute. White bass at Utah Lake would do the same thing—depending on conditions.
And you know its no surprise you do the same for wipers. I would think though for wipers you could possibly slow the retrieve down—to get them to strike. And you know how different conditions exist for wipers.
Tandem rigs, it sounds like a great idea. Especially with two poles. Two jigs or crankbaits per pole ha ha!
I've seen fisherman do that with two crankbaits. One crankbait goes deep the other shallow.
As for your love of 6 pound test line why in the tarnations
do you use 6 pound test for wipers?????? What the.....
Then again I assume you know what your doing. LOL!
