Cuda 300 vs Fishing Buddy 110
#2
[cool][#0000ff]Sorry you had such a negative experience. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]First of all, the "false fish" signals on the Cudas have always been a mixed blessing. It is good that they are sensitive enough to pick up even small bits of algae and bubbles in the water and display them as fish...but bad that they produce those false signals. I have mostly learned to ignore anything less than a few feet deep...especially all of the small fish.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I am going to guess that a lot of the strange readings you got were the result of fishing close to someone else also running a sonar. Some units are more susceptible to wacko screen displays. The lower the wattage the more likely that a more powerful sonar...or even one of similar wattage...will create anomalies on your screen. Happens a lot with ice fishermen all fishing close to each other. You have to have adjustments for controlling the interference and clutter. Not available on low end units like the Cudas.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I finished the installation on my new Cuda 300 a couple of days ago and I plan to give it a good test soon. I will run it through the paces and see how the output compares to other units I am familiar with...on waters and species I know well.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I doubt that the problem is in how you mounted your system. If it is showing proper bottom readings the other things should work too.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]As mentioned before, you will not see the inverted V marks for fish when fishing from a tube because unless they go beneath you quickly they will show up as dots or lines. The "boomerangs" usually show up when sonars are used on boats that are moving at a faster speed than tubes can go.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Don't know where you got your Cuda 300, but if you are not happy with the way it works you should be able to get a refund or replacement. Cabelas, for example, will refund or replace with no questions asked...as long as you have proof of purchase and have not damaged the unit.[/#0000ff]
