jordan river jumpers
#1
[fishin] [#bf0000]went down to the jordan river today(salt lake area) thought we mite try our luck with the rising temps! pretty new to jordan river fishing so had a few tactics in mind and away i went! tossing chartruse jiggs, worm from a bobber, and even a worm and marshmallow off the bottom! it was about 8pm when i took a little walk and found a nice outlet from where the river flows down a drain tube and a nice calmer river flows! so i ran back and got my boy(fishmonger) and excitedly ran over to our new spot!!! as we approached the calmer water we saw a fish break the silent water with a big splash... something we hadent seen all evening! they were killin flies on top! unfortunetely i did not bring my fly rod(idiot) so i soaked another worm under a bobber hoping for a bite... nothing! they were jumping like crazy.. even saw what appeared to be a carp try to jump back up the drain tube! time was running out and light was draining from the sky! when all of a sudden there was life... fish mongler hooked up with a fish on a plastic jig... big fish!! he got the bite downstream, worked the fish all the way to the top where we almost got a glimpse of the ulusive fish when suddenly..... i heard those dreadful words no fisherman wants to hear.......... i lost it!!! man we had worked so hard!! but theres hope yet... tomorrow i go back and tomorrow i have the fly pole in hand! and tomorrow there will be another post only this time with pics!!! do carp eat flies? im pretty sure bass do, and of course trout.. but i dont know much about carp or cat fish! anyways any tips on fishing the jordan river in the glendale area(salt lake) would be gr8tly appreciated!!
