I just sweep it forward. If they don't hook up, drop it back again, and they'll often hit again. Don't set the hook. I once took a fly fisherman to Yuba, and he couldn't help but try to set the hook. He kept jerking it out of their mouths. It was a good day, I caught 25 fish that day to his 10. Slowly sweep it forward.
