Hey there DH tubinjoe,
The wiper, in the not too distant future, will eclipse the striper in popularity in many man-made impoundments and reserviors. They are smaller, sustain greater numbers, taste better, and are less subject to stunting than the stripers.
Distriubtion is Kentucky to California and Tennessee, Lousiana, Texas, and Oklahoma(White bass hybrid is state fish) have big-time stocks of wipers/white bass/silver bass/etc. The names are different but the strains are close. Other states have them too.
The more the wiper intermixes, the more the lateral lines start to break up. They start to look like zig zags instead of lines in some strains.
Some people call them wipers and some swipers. ha ha
Like! everybody jumped in on this one. How's the info over-load!? ha ha ha For additional info check out fishbase.com.
