First off Scruffy, it will be EITHER a shorb loop OR a ring. On the tippet end at any rate, on the line end it will always be a shorb for the loop to loop connection.

I have used two different methods of attaching a ring. Here is some pictures but I am using rope and a key ring....leaders and rings are MUCH smaller[

First, being the easiest, is down one leg of the "V" that the leader is (before furling)

Then when finished looks like this:

* note: this is on the thinnest part of a tapered leader. Which means for example 3 single threads or 6 when furled...BUT! think about it, it is 3 strands holding the ring.
NEW WAY!
Attach the ring to the point of the "V" meaning all strands:

After twisting (before hang furling) loop the loop at end over ring. You now have two sets of 3 holding the ring. Like both hands instead of one:

Reason for the RINGS instead of a shorb....most leaders are made out of thread, and your tippet can CUT the thread over several uses.
