Anyway I personally don't like switching stuff around, my reels are set to the rod meaning they are sized accordingly. Its too much to go into to detail but when you go shopping you can see the sizes on the rod usually match the sizes on the reel like if the reel can take (test/yards) 10/120 12/100 and 16/80 then the reel should say the same or similar.
Do a google search on rod/reel sizing. Hope that helps.
