Action: Anglers will be able to retain sockeye salmon in the Hanford Reach during the summer chinook fishery.
Effective Date: July 1 - Aug. 15, 2009<br />
Location: Columbia River from the Hwy. 395 Bridge at Pasco to Priest Rapids Dam.<br />
Species affected: Sockeye salmon<br />
Reason for action: Sockeye salmon returns to the upper Columbia River are predicted to be in excess of needs for wild fish escapement to the spawning grounds. The population is not listed under the Endangered Species Act.<br />
Other information: Minimum size 12 inches. Daily limit six salmon, only four of which may be adults, up to two of the adult salmon may be chinook. Release all steelhead.<br />
