Cuda 300 review
#2
Here is my last review of the cuda 300 aka "lying larry". While I am no expert with a fish finder, but I found the lying larry a little better than a total waste of money. From the very start it showed false fish signals with the fish ID. also I found that if I was fishing around or over basalt the unit would totally wig out. The screens would restart so fast that all I would have is vertical lines.
I began to use it in raw sonar mode to get away from the false fish signals. In depth under 30 foot it did ok with bottom pictures. I compared it to what my sons buddy was showing and they were close to the same picture. While I was at brownlee I got into water that was up to 50 foot deep. It was worthless for the most part deeper than 30 foot. There was so much clutter on the screen that I could not see much. I adjusted the sensitivity and cleared it up some. I did see some fish arches but that is the only place I have seen them so far. I understand that the fish arches are for faster speeds but Fish ID is crap so I went to raw sonar. I have never seen a fish on the bottom of any body of water.
Over all I say if you need a FF don't waste your money with this one. I can say the humminbird fishin buddy 110 is by far better than the cuda 300. I am going to try a friends eagle 480 and see how it is. I think the transducer is the same as the lying larry so I am going to put it on my set up and give it a try. I am hoping that more power helps. Ron
So you're saying for depths under 30 feet it's pretty solid?

Just kidding. Thanks for the review/warning.
