Sounds like quite the adventure and sounds like you are lucky to make it out of there.
Sounds like your were pretty prepared for the adventure. Lost of Utah anglers don't realize how bad things can get and are not remotely prepared.
one more thing you can try on the anchor...make sure it is rated for boat at least your size...You should have 7 times the depth, or 100 ft minimum at willard even in the shallows and put 7 to 10 feet of chain on. That will really help to increase your holding power and will allow your bow to get lots of lift over the waves. And if it doesn't hold it will slow your drift.
Congratulations on your survival. I've just missed a couple of those at willard but i caught a good one at UT lake a couple years ago! They suck
