what hp motor for trolling is best
#21
I went with a merc 4hp 4 stroke. For the length and weight of my boat it does great. I have it tied in to the main gas line so there is no mixing or filling up gas. I think my big motor uses more gas to warm up than this thing does trolling all day[crazy]. Your skeeter is a heavier boat, but it also doesnt have as large a draft or wind resistence that most multi species boats have, so you wouldnt need a 9.9 hp like say a 21ft lund would. I think 6-8hp on yours would be perfect(and cheaper). I also have had experience with the yamaha kickers, wich would match your outboard[Wink], They are the quietest, smooth running small outboards around IMHO. I will have to wait until I get off the work computer and get home to show a pic, but ill post one.
