The wife and I decided to cruise the Mirror Lake highway today and hit up a river while we were up there. We ended up at Bear River about 8 miles from the Wyoming border. Mirror Lake looked great but there was just a bunch of people there and I really wanted to avoid still water.
I wasn't out there more than an hour but I did catch a rainbow on a Orange Stimulator and a brookie on a CDC Elk Hair Caddis.
They were definitely coming up for something, maybe if I was a bit more up on the entomology I would have had a bit more success. I don't feel bad though. Another angler came down the river and said he had only caught a brookie in the 2 hours he had been there. Not to mention I just started fly fishing and am happy to catch at least one fish per outing.
