Huntington Trip Monday 10/19
#38
[quote albinotrout]I agree with you on the wind.[:/] Thanks for the pic. [cool] I have 5 of the jack o buggers ties up (I added crystal flash to the tail), now to work on the others.[Smile] Do you have any idea (guess really) the ratio of fish caught on what bug?[/quote]

[cool][#0000ff]As Joni suggests, the halloween colors are not the only thing for the fly box. The tigers in Huntington are really not all that selective, but there are times (like everywhere) when they show a preference for one color or another. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Over the past few years I have been fishing Huntington there is probably no color that has not produced fish. But, black has been the basic color that seems to produce best. Some of my better black patterns have red, chartreuse or orange in them. But, a basic black bugger is as good as it gets.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Chartreuse is a great color on Huntington, as is white.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The big key on this lake is to first find out what part of the lake the fish are most active, and at what depth. During the warmer months of summer they go deep but when it cools off they can be scattered all over the lake and at any depth.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Let's hope the wind machine breaks down so that we can get on the water for a while.[/#0000ff]
