When I was growing up in the greater New York area I used to fish a nice local lake called oakland lake. It has a very diverse population of fish and animals for an in the city lak. I had personally seen LMB,bluegills, pumpkinseed, channel cats, chain pickerel, black crappie, white bass, ells and goldfish/carp. Plus very good sized snapping turtles. This lake was less than 1 mile for a major parkway so Its not what I would even consider out in the country. But I know many fished this lake for food. Now it seems all lakes are considered catch and release. Makes me wonder how they plan to not stunt the lake too bad. I even had some familycome complaine to me when I had caught a large snapping turtle and released it.
