as has been said already most small nymphs will work, they have little mouths so big things usually won't work although I caught one today on a decent size wooly bugger, and I caught one one time on a rapala (yes it was in the mouth [
]). this time of year I catch them mostly on midge pupae, but i've never actually set out to catch whities, they're just mixed in with the trout.
