The reasons for me are that I catch more and bigger fish, and, with being cooped up indoors all winter it's great to get outside. Yeah, there are some pretty chilly days, but if the sun is out it's warmer up in the mountains that it is here in the valley. [

Also, ice fishing can be more of a group thing. People can fish close will talk with each other, which can be appealing. But on open water... some seem to complain if you are on the same LAKE with them... [:/]
