yes, definitely a lot of fun to grow your own, but they are very hard to keep contained. The young ones can slip through almost anything and the bigger ones will chew through almost anything you can think of to cover them with. If you decide to do this, put the container in a shallow pan with a little water in it to drowned the escapees.[]
They reproduce like crazy. 25 will get you between 500 and 1000, with good growing conditions.
