hey guys just a quick note. I did a little research online for the hotels in Green River (sorry not Rock Springs) but I kept coming up with different prices based on two beds for two people for one night. So I decided to call all the hotels listed in this Q&A above. Here is what I found from the front desks of each:
Hampton Inn = $85
Super 8 = $52 (new managment)
Flaming Gorge motel = $40
Coachman = does not have any rooms available for 1/23
Mustang = $55
Desmond = phone is not to a hotel but a house
Walkers motel = this is an apartment complex weekly
Western = $40
Sweet Dreams Inn = $71
But here is the kicker [cool] when I talked to Barbara Card at the Oak Tree Inn and explained why I was calling she said that normaly the price for two people for one night for a room with two beds it is $70 but because she also likes the big fish in the gorge and would like to see the burbot gone, she is going to give a special deal to anyone who calls and reserves a room telling her that it is for the "Burbot Bash". A 2 bed room for one night is $59 PLUS you get FREE BREAKFAST the next day. But you have to say that it is for the Burbot Bash. She even said you can ask for her if need be. So there is the situation on the hotels.
A few more tid bits, called Wind River Sporting goods (otherwise known as Ace Hardware) and they said they have plenty of bait (chub/sucker meat, worms, mealies and such). Also a usage tag for the Flaming Gorge is $10. They open at 8 a.m. Don't forget to put your name and address tag on your poles.
