[cool][#0000ff]We haven't had any reports posted on BFT yet, but I am aware of several perch searches that have been made since ice up. Not too promising. Yes, there are some perch left, but not in the numbers we would like to see. And yes, there are some big ones...averaging over 12 inches for the porkers. But for the distance to drive for the average poor returns it does not make a lot of sense to fish Yuba this winter.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]One trip was by one of our most esteemed perch jerkers and a regular fishing buddy who is also no slouch at perchin'. They fished out of Oasis just about a week ago...hitting water from shallow to deep (up to 45 feet). Saw only a few singles, doubles and triples go by on sonar and were able to ice only one perch between them for several hours of serious fishing. The fish was 12 1/2" but very expensive by the pound.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Another trip by some equally skilled Yuba anglers produced nothing for six hours of fishing with three people drillin' and chillin'. Nothing unless you count one carp.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]A better report was posted on the Wildlife board on the Painted Rocks area. Two guys fished in 17 feet of water and iced 7 fish between them. Better results but they were in no danger of exceeding the current 10 fish limit. And when it goes to 50 after the first of the year...woweeeee.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Those who fish for a challenge rather than a full bucket will enjoy Yuba this year.[/#0000ff]
