I use GLoomis spinning rods with Shimano 251 or 401 TE's for bottom bouncing for steelies and salmon. I find the larger eyes offer less drag and the rods cast farther then the same rod in a casting model. I've landed 1000's of fish and have never had a problem with the reversed "spine" that you hear mentioned. Great set up!
