a lot of local fly shops have lessons.. sometimes for free.. you may also want to look at local fly clubs.. they usually offer classes of all sorts for members at little to no cost.. they would also be able to answer your question about fly fishing season more accurately.. but Id say in general when the fish are active its fly fishing time.. :-)
